Detailed itinerary
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your driver-guide will be waiting to greet you and transfer you to your chosen accommodation. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Cassia Lodge.
After your morning breakfast at your hotel, your driver-guide will pick you up and begin the journey northwest towards Uganda's Nakasongola District. After about three hours of driving, you'll arrive at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, home to Uganda’s only wild rhino population. Enjoy a memorable encounter with these majestic animals before continuing your drive. After a lunch stop in Masindi Town, you will enter Murchison Falls National Park through one of its entrance gates. As you drive through the park, you’ll have the opportunity to spot various unique wildlife species. When time allows you opt to do an evening game drive and later, check in at Ikromo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Start your day with an early morning breakfast before heading out for a game drive. During the drive, you can expect to see Cape buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, oribis, topis, warthogs, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and waterbucks. If you start early, you may also spot nocturnal species like lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas returning from their nighttime hunts. After 3-4 hours exploring the park, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a scenic boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Along the way, you’ll likely see herds of elephants, Uganda kobs, and buffaloes on the riverbanks, while Nile crocodiles and hippos bask in the shallow waters. Birdwatchers will also be delighted by sightings of pied kingfishers, African fish eagles, malachite kingfishers, and possibly even the rare shoebill. After this fascinating experience, return to Ikromo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and proceed to the top of Murchison Falls, where you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the majestic waterfalls. Afterward, exit the park and enjoy an enroute lunch as you journey towards Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way, you'll pass through the breathtaking landscapes of the Albertine Rift Valley Escarpments and the scenic countryside. Arrive in Kibale Forest National Park in the evening, where you'll settle in for dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale forest camp.
Begin your day with a delicious continental breakfast before heading to the Park Headquarters for a briefing on the great apes—chimpanzees. After the briefing, you’ll enter the dense forest to search for them. The tracking experience typically lasts between one and three hours and presents opportunities to encounter various other primate species, including grey-crowned cranes, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, L’Hoest's monkeys, and red-tailed monkeys, as well as numerous forest bird species, unique butterflies, reptiles, and amphibians. Your guide will alert you to the presence of chimps upon hearing their calls, and you'll spend one hour observing them up close. After your chimpanzee experience, return to the lodge for lunch. Then, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, enjoying a scenic 3–4-hour drive through the peaceful city of Fort Portal, lush tea plantations, and distant views of the Rwenzori Mountains with a stopover at new renovated Equator monument of Kikorongo. Arrive in the evening for dinner and an overnight stay at Irungu Forest Safari resort.
After an early morning breakfast, set out for a game drive in the Kasenyi area of the park. Keep an eye out for both small and large herds of elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, prides of lions, spotted hyenas, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and many other species. You'll also pass by some of the famous crater lakes known for attracting migratory birds, especially flamingos. After your drive, return to the lodge for a hot lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a boat trip along the stunning Kazinga Channel, providing an excellent opportunity to see wildlife up close, including giant hippos lounging just meters from the boat and Nile crocodiles basking on the banks. The lush shores of the Kazinga Channel are home to a variety of bird species, including pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagles, pied and malachite kingfishers, grey-crowned cranes, and saddle-billed storks, among others. After your exciting day, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Irungu Forest Safari resort.
After an early breakfast, your guide will escort you to the starting point of your exciting morning gorilla trek, with your packed lunch in hand. You'll embark on a thrilling journey through the jungle to reach the gorillas, where you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. This is truly an experience you will cherish forever. Upon returning from your trek, the afternoon offers an opportunity to visit a local Batwa pygmy community, where you'll gain insights into their traditional forest lifestyle and rich cultural heritage. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at Bweza Gorilla Lodge.
After enjoying breakfast at the lodge, you’ll embark on the drive back to Entebbe or Kampala. Take in the scenic views along the meandering roads of Kabale, featuring picturesque landscapes and lush banana plantations.
