Safari Overview
This 12-day Uganda safari begins with a transfer to Jinja, featuring a rewarding visit to Sezibwa Falls, a boat cruise along the Nile to its source, and an exciting zip-lining adventure. The journey continues through a variety of national parks, showcasing both forest and savannah experiences in Murchison Falls, Kibale Forest, Queen Elizabeth, Bwindi Impenetrable, and Lake Mburo National Parks. You’ll participate in a range of activities, including chimpanzee trekking, gorilla trekking, game drives, walking safaris, and boat cruises, among others.

Detailed itinerary
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your driver-guide will warmly welcome you and escort you to your selected accommodation. Relax and enjoy dinner, followed by an overnight stay at Cassia Lodge
After your morning breakfast, we’ll set off for Jinja, the adventure capital of East Africa, taking in the scenic views of Mabira Forest along the way. If you wish, we can stop at the Najjemba local market for some muchomo. Next, we’ll continue to Sezibwa Falls for nature walks, hikes, and sightseeing. Afterward, proceed to Jinja City for lunch, followed by a boat cruise to the Source of the Nile, the longest river in the world. Conclude your day with an exhilarating zip-lining adventure over the Nile. We’ll then return to Kampala for dinner and an overnight stay at Cassia Lodge as you prepare for the next day's adventures.
Start your day with an early morning breakfast before heading out for a game drive. During the drive, you can expect to see Cape buffaloes, elephants, Uganda Kobs, oribis, Topis, warthogs, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and waterbucks. If you start early, you may also spot nocturnal species like lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas returning from their nighttime hunts. After 3-4 hours exploring the park, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a scenic boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Along the way, you’ll likely see herds of elephants, Uganda Kobs, and buffaloes on the riverbanks, while Nile crocodiles and hippos bask in the shallow waters. Birdwatchers will also be delighted by sightings of pied kingfishers, African fish eagles, malachite kingfishers, and possibly even the rare shoebill. After this fascinating experience, return to Ikromo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and head to the top of Murchison Falls, where you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the powerful waterfalls. Following this, exit the park and enjoy a lunch en route as you travel towards Kibale Forest National Park. The drive takes you through the stunning landscapes of the Albertine Rift Valley Escarpments and picturesque countryside. Arrive at Kibale Forest National Park in the evening, where you'll enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp.
After breakfast, you’ll head to Kibale National Park Headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. You’ll be divided into small groups of six, each led by a guide who will take you into the forest to track one of the chimpanzee families. Chimpanzees live in communities ranging from 50 to 250 members, often splitting into smaller groups during the day to reduce food competition before reuniting in the evening to build their nests. Once you locate the chimps, you’ll have one hour to observe and interact with them before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a guided wetland walk in the nearby Bigodi Village, where you can spot other primates and numerous bird species. Afterward, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp.
After breakfast, set out on a scenic 3–4-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes you through Fort Portal, with beautiful views of tea plantations and the Rwenzori Mountains, and includes a stop at the newly renovated Equator monument in Kikorongo. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. In the evening, embark on a game drive through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. While lion cubs often climb for fun, the adult lionesses in this area are known to rest in fig trees to escape tsetse flies and enjoy the breeze. This unique behaviour offers fantastic photo opportunities. As you explore this remote region, take in the stunning landscapes and vibrant birdlife. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Irungu Forest Safari resort.
After an early breakfast, you'll head out for a game drive in the Kasenyi area of the park. Keep an eye out for both small and large herds of elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, prides of lions, spotted hyenas, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and a variety of other wildlife. Along the way, you'll pass some of the park's famous crater lakes, which attract migratory birds, particularly flamingos. After your drive, return to the lodge for a delicious hot lunch. In the afternoon, set off on a boat trip along the picturesque Kazinga Channel, where you'll have the chance to see wildlife up close, including giant hippos lounging just a few meters away and Nile crocodiles basking on the banks. The lush shores are teeming with birdlife, featuring pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagles, pied and malachite kingfishers, grey-crowned cranes, and saddle-billed storks, among others. After a day full of adventure, return to Irungu Forest Safari resort for dinner and a restful overnight stay.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, enjoy scenic views of banana plantations, Ankole tea estates, picturesque landscapes, and the winding roads of Kabale. Stop for lunch en route before arriving at the park. Upon arrival, unwind and enjoy a relaxing evening at the lodge. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Bweza Gorilla Lodge.
After an early breakfast, your guide will escort you to the starting point of your exciting morning gorilla trek, with your packed lunch in hand. You'll embark on a thrilling journey through the jungle to reach the gorillas, where you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. This is truly an experience you will cherish forever. Upon returning from your trek, the afternoon offers an opportunity to visit a local Batwa pygmy community, where you'll gain insights into their traditional forest lifestyle and rich cultural heritage. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at Bweza Gorilla Lodge.
After a delightful breakfast, check out and begin your journey to Lake Mburo National Park, with a stop for lunch at a convenient restaurant along the way. Upon arrival, head out on an evening game drive to spot wildlife such as giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, Topis, waterbucks, zebras, and a variety of bird species. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Mburo Safari Lodge.
After breakfast, a Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger will meet you for a briefing before leading you on a guided safari walk. This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to stretch their legs and experience wildlife up close on foot. Lake Mburo is the only park in Uganda where you can enjoy a safari walk, allowing you to encounter the same animals typically seen on a game drive, but from a more intimate, ground-level perspective. After the walk, we’ll check out of the lodge and begin the drive back to Kampala, with a lunch stop enroute.
