Safari Overview
The 16-day safari begins in Entebbe and takes you on an exhilarating adventure through the scenic landscapes of western and southwestern Uganda, eventually returning to Entebbe. Journey westward to Lake Mburo National Park and Bwindi, where you’ll embark on an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience and visit the Batwa community. In Semliki National Park, you’ll marvel at the hot springs before heading to Kibale Forest for chimpanzee trekking and the Bigodi swamp walk. Discover the wonders of Queen Elizabeth National Park, then visit Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. Search for lions and leopards before concluding your trip with a visit to the serene Lake Bunyonyi.

Detailed itinerary
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your driver-guide will warmly welcome you and escort you to your selected accommodation. Relax and enjoy dinner, followed by an overnight stay at Cassia Lodge
After breakfast, our driver-guide will pick you up to begin your journey to Lake Mburo National Park. En route, you'll stop at the equator, where you can stand in both the northern and southern hemispheres simultaneously. As you continue through the savannah grasslands, you'll pass banana plantations and herds of the distinctive long-horned Ankole cattle, a common sight in this region. A stop at Igongo Cultural Museum offers insight into the history of the Banyankole tribe and the western region, followed by lunch at the Igongo restaurant. Upon arrival at Lake Mburo, you'll check in at the lodge and set off on a guided evening safari walk—a unique opportunity to stretch your legs and encounter wildlife on foot. Lake Mburo is the only park in Uganda where safari walks are allowed, providing a rare chance to see animals up close in their natural habitat. After the walk, you'll return to Mburo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Wake early and have time to take a delight breakfast before you head for a game drive through the park in search of game like the zebras, hippos, crocodiles, elands, antelopes, impalas and a variety of bird species. After you will return to your lodge for lunch and then head for a 2-hour boat launch on Lake Mburo to see animals like the hippos, crocodiles and various bird species. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Mburo safari lodge.
Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, take in the beautiful scenery of banana plantations, Ankole tea estates, picturesque landscapes, and the winding roads of Kabale. Stop for lunch enroute before arriving at the park. Once you arrive, relax and enjoy a leisurely evening at the lodge. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge.
After an early breakfast, your guide will escort you to the starting point of your exciting morning gorilla trek, with your packed lunch in hand. You'll embark on a thrilling journey through the jungle to reach the gorillas, where you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. This is truly an experience you will cherish forever. Upon returning from your trek, the afternoon offers an opportunity to visit a local Batwa pygmy community, where you'll gain insights into their traditional forest lifestyle and rich cultural heritage. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at Rushaga Gorilla Lodge.
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi, where you'll check in at Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort. Later, embark on a mid-morning boat cruise along the tranquil waters of Lake Bunyonyi, famed for its crystal-clear depths and 29 stunning islands. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure—whether you opt for a swim in the bilharzia-free waters or simply relax by the peaceful shoreline, soaking in the natural beauty. In the evening, indulge in a delicious dinner before settling in for an overnight stay at Lake Bunyonyi Eco Resort.
After breakfast, check out and begin your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, taking in the scenic views along the way. You'll pass through the lush Ankole tea estates, banana plantations, and picturesque landscapes. Enjoy an enroute lunch before arriving at the park. Once there, check in at Baboon Safari Resort and spend the rest of the evening at your leisure, relaxing before dinner and an overnight stay at the resort.
After an early breakfast, you'll head out for a game drive in the Kasenyi area of the park. Keep an eye out for both small and large herds of elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, prides of lions, spotted hyenas, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and a variety of other wildlife. Along the way, you'll pass some of the park's famous crater lakes, which attract migratory birds, particularly flamingos. After your drive, return to the lodge for a delicious hot lunch. In the afternoon, set off on a boat trip along the picturesque Kazinga Channel, where you'll have the chance to see wildlife up close, including giant hippos lounging just a few meters away and Nile crocodiles basking on the banks. The lush shores are teeming with birdlife, featuring pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagles, pied and malachite kingfishers, grey-crowned cranes, and saddle-billed storks, among others. After a day full of adventure, return to Baboon Safari resort for dinner and a restful overnight stay.
After breakfast, you'll visit the scenic twin lakes of Rubirizi, with a stop at Lake Katwe to witness traditional salt mining in action. Following this exploration, return to the lodge for lunch. After checking out, continue the journey to Fort Portal, where you'll arrive and check in at Kalya Courts Hotel. Enjoy a relaxing evening at leisure. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Kalya Courts Hotel.
After breakfast, embark on an exciting journey to Semliki National Park to visit the fascinating Sempaya Hot Springs, where the water temperature exceeds 100°C. You’ll even get the chance to boil eggs and bananas in the hot springs! Later, we’ll transfer to the Amabeere ga Nyinamwiru Caves and enjoy a hike around the scenic Fort Portal crater lakes. After this adventure, return to Kalya Courts Hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast and spend a relaxing morning at the lodge before lunch. After lunch, check out and set off on your journey to Kibale Forest National Park. Upon arrival, you'll check in at the lodge. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp as you prepare for the exciting adventure awaiting you the next day.
After breakfast, you’ll head to Kibale National Park Headquarters for a briefing on the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. You’ll be divided into small groups of six, each led by a guide who will take you into the forest to track one of the chimpanzee families. Chimpanzees live in communities ranging from 50 to 250 members, often splitting into smaller groups during the day to reduce food competition before reuniting in the evening to build their nests. Once you locate the chimps, you’ll have one hour to observe and interact with them before returning to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll embark on a guided wetland walk in the nearby Bigodi Village, where you can spot other primates and numerous bird species. Afterward, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Kibale Forest Camp.
After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. The drive takes you through the breathtaking scenery of the Albertine Rift Valley escarpments and the picturesque countryside, with a stop for lunch along the way. Upon arrival at the park, you'll visit the top of Murchison Falls, where you'll witness the awe-inspiring power of the waterfalls. Afterwards, check in at Ikromo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Begin your day with an early breakfast before setting off on a scenic boat cruise along the Victoria Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. During the journey, you’ll likely spot herds of elephants, Uganda Kobs, and buffaloes along the riverbanks, while Nile crocodiles and hippos bask in the shallows. Birdwatchers will be thrilled by sightings of pied kingfishers, African fish eagles, malachite kingfishers, and perhaps even the elusive shoebill. After the cruise, return to the lodge for lunch. In the evening, enjoy a sunset game drive, where you can expect to see Cape buffaloes, elephants, Uganda Kobs, oribis, Topis, warthogs, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and waterbucks. If you start early, you may even spot nocturnal species like lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas as they head out for their nighttime hunts. After this captivating experience, return to Ikromo Safari Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Begin your day with an early breakfast and check out of the lodge before embarking on a thrilling morning game drive. During the drive, you can expect to spot a variety of wildlife, including Cape buffaloes, elephants, Uganda Kobs, oribis, Topis, warthogs, giraffes, bushbucks, hartebeests, and waterbucks. If you set out early, you may also encounter nocturnal animals like lions, leopards, and spotted hyenas as they return from their nighttime hunts. After 3-4 hours of exploration, exit the park and proceed to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for an unforgettable rhino tracking experience on foot. Following this, enjoy an enroute lunch before continuing your journey back to Kampala. Dinner and overnight stay will be at Cassia Lodge.
Enjoy a leisurely morning breakfast while relaxing at the lodge. After lunch, begin preparing for your transfer to Entebbe International Airport for your scheduled flight back home.
