Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Arrival, pick up and transfer to the hotel
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, your driver-guide will be waiting to greet you and transfer you to your chosen accommodation. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at Cassia Lodge.
After your morning breakfast at your hotel, your driver-guide will pick you up and you set off on a scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park, passing through charming villages and stopping at a roadside market to experience local culture. After a delightful lunch, we’ll explore the crater lakes region near Kibale, where you can enjoy a picturesque crater walk, keeping an eye out for the striking black and white colobus monkeys. Following this scenic trek, we’ll head to Kibale Forest Camp for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.
Your day starts with an early briefing at Kibale Forest National Park, famous for its rich primate population, especially chimpanzees. Guided by an experienced ranger, you’ll embark on an exciting trek through the lush forest, listening for the calls of the chimps. You'll spend an hour observing these fascinating creatures up close in their natural habitat. After lunch, the adventure continues with a guided swamp walk, taking you through scenic grasslands and small communities, where you’ll experience the local culture and the beautiful Ugandan landscape. Dinner and overnight stay at Kibale forest camp.
Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After breakfast, your guide will drive you to Queen Elizabeth National Park, home to a high concentration of Uganda’s mammals that include tree climbing and savannah lions, elephants, warthogs, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, Cape buffaloes, hippos, and leopards. There are also more than 600 species of birds including the African spoonbill, pied kingfishers, fish eagles, pelicans, and vultures. Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second-largest park, located at the base of the majestic Rwenzori Mountain Range, adjacent to Lake Edward and Lake George. Lions are often sighted both in and at the entrance to the park. We shall also stop at the newly renovated Kikorongo Equator for some photos and a brief break before checking in at the lodge for your lunch. Dinner and overnight stay at Baboon safari resort.
After an early morning breakfast, set out for a game drive in the Kasenyi area of the park. Keep an eye out for both small and large herds of elephants, warthogs, buffaloes, prides of lions, spotted hyenas, Uganda kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, and many other species. You'll also pass by some of the famous crater lakes known for attracting migratory birds, especially flamingos. After your drive, return to the lodge for a hot lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a boat trip along the stunning Kazinga Channel, providing an excellent opportunity to see wildlife up close, including giant hippos lounging just meters from the boat and Nile crocodiles basking on the banks. The lush shores of the Kazinga Channel are home to a variety of bird species, including pink-backed pelicans, African fish eagles, pied and malachite kingfishers, grey-crowned cranes, and saddle-billed storks, among others. After your exciting day, return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at Baboon Safari resort.
After an early breakfast, your guide will escort you to the starting point of your exciting morning gorilla trek, with your packed lunch in hand. You'll embark on a thrilling journey through the jungle to reach the gorillas, where you’ll spend an unforgettable hour observing these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. This is truly an experience you will cherish forever. Upon returning from your trek, the afternoon offers an opportunity to visit a local Batwa pygmy community, where you'll gain insights into their traditional forest lifestyle and rich cultural heritage. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay at Bweza Gorilla Lodge.
After enjoying breakfast at the lodge, you’ll embark on the drive back to Entebbe or Kampala. Take in the scenic views along the meandering roads of Kabale, featuring picturesque landscapes and lush banana plantations. We’ll stop for lunch enroute, either in Mbarara town or another convenient location. Finally, you’ll arrive in Kampala or at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight, concluding your unforgettable journey.
